Lazy Day-Our first.

Today is being spent in Victoria on Vancouver Island. It is an obviously touristy place but having spent 4 days in America it is rather toned down so this aspect doesn't really detract.

We slept in to 7.30am which is a lot later then we have been doing.  Its amazing what a moment resting does for the system. We are feeling a lot more human and didn't realize how exhausted we were.

The others had a few days mooching around LA and by the time they where on the road they where ready to roar.

The weather is back to Celsius and the speed to KM/H. The Queen makes an appearance on our currency so we feel like good little colonial subjects once again. you get to see the Queen a fair bit because its more expensive here then America.

One thing we learnt today. Canadians have "loonies" and "toonies" for one dollar and two dollar coins.
We feel its back to school time rummaging through the small change in your hand and wondering what the hell you have or should hand over.

The locals are great. The process of adding tax and tips is clumsy when you are not accustomed. The traffic is still like nothing in NZ.

We where warned by some of you but we have on many occasions brought the traffic to a stand still by looking across the road at something. They assume you want to cross and the bloody traffic just stops and waits patiently!!! Out of embarrassment we have sometimes crossed the road just to make them feel they didn't waste their time. Silly but true.

Its been a pleasant 20 degrees today. The locals say it has been cooler than normal this year. The  mid west has been having a heat wave that will reach record levels for the summer and this is affecting warm air/ cool air currents. The coast is getting cooler air.  Feels alright to us.

The well worn phrase for this area is that it is full of the "nearly dead or newly wed"

Its been a very welcome distraction and tomorrow we have a big day. A ferry ride to main land Canada and 250 miles into Vancouver. (worlds most desirable City) and through Whister and into bear country: Lillooet.

A picture paints a thousand words. Here is Vancouver.
