California is a beautiful state, with landscape ranging from from desert to rolling countryside to spectacular alpine wilderness. We had the desert experience yesterday, the rest was all in front of us.
We started out in much cooler conditions this morning. 60 degrees showing on the Harley Air temperature gauge. Half of yesterdays. It wasn't unpleasant though and soon warmed to a very comfy 80 degrees mid morning.
Green was the mornings theme. Green and mountains.
We took the small detour around June lake. Beautiful.
We stopped for a fuel up and coffee prior to entering Yosemite National Park. Then we climbed up into the high altitude once more.
We entered the park proper. It wasn't too busy and the weather was perfect. This road is only open a few short months. At other times of the year-SNOW!
This park must run second in natural beauty to Zion National Park. To get a full appreciation with this park we suspect you need to get off your bike and go hiking. Fat chance that was going to happen.
The road out Ken had suggested was closed due to fire. We took an alternative, probably not the 1st choice but nice all the same.
A good hill with steep decline and flowing corners to get the blood running.
We'll be down there in 8 miles time.
Down already?
We split up from the others and found our own way to Gilroy. We saw many fruit growing activities including heaps of stone fruit and walnuts. Little stalls dotted the road just like home. Gilroy has a strong smell of Garlic.
Check out the street we are on.
They say it never rains in Southern California...
Hundreds of trucks all over the freeway.
Today's ride was awesome. It was tinged slightly by melancholy from the knowledge that 10 years dreaming is coming to an end. Its been a blast. Tomorrow we need only safely return our hire bike into San Fransisco in the afternoon and the ride is behind us.
The sights, people and motorcycling have exceeded our expectations.
We have to spend the following day in San Fransisco waiting for our flight, so will have the chance to look around parts not yet explored.
Hi I was the first and I hope to be the last ,what a trip it may have taken ten years in the making but you will still be talking about in ten years and reliving every minute of it.Just keep some warm cloths for here 10ds enjoy your ride home and let the guy up the front do the driving. just dream of every wonderful things you have seen and done we have been with you all the way, Mum & Dad
ReplyDeleteHi. We have had a wonderful trip. It was hard returning the bike today but it had to be done.
ReplyDeleteWe are in San Fransisco now and it's all go in the big city.
It was freezing here today, only about 20 degrees, and we had to reach for the icebreaker jerseys. I think we'll be in trouble when we get back. 10 degrees sounds like cruel and unusual punishment.
