We hit the road at 7.30 for a much smaller day in terms of miles then the previous day.
The first 120 miles consisted of pleasant riding through prosperous townships and lakes.
The temp was cool and it was an easy start. As it turned out it was a pleasant 80 degrees today.
We rode alone and headed straight for a Harley/Ducati dealer in Missoula as our bike has developed a small oil leak from the primary cover. We waited around for awhile and several others came and went while we were there. " Fear not" was the diagnosis, it will be fine to ride. The cost for this service? Nil.
| Just for you, Tom! (didn't really like it sorry.) |
| Instore competition. Go on the freedom ride and win a gun. |
We had a quick bite nearby and had our first interstate experience. You are allowed to do 75 MPH so the miles are gobbled up fairly rapidly. It was novel for an hour or so, and now we have done it. The locals ride without a helmet and largely without any motorcycle safety equipment at all. They are mostly very friendly as "brothers on the road".
Being in America the Harley doesn't hurt either, but all manner of bikers acknowledge each other with a wave here.
We rolled into Butte earlyish and took a scenic ride around. We are staying in the historic part of town. Old brick buildings and a history of mining for silver and copper.
As I type this a thunder storm has descended. It is very nice hearing from you all by email or comment. Love to you all.
Hi Mark and Gerry, look forward to getting home from the work routine each day and seeing how you are all going, Had a quick look at the sturgis website and I see that most offences Gerry can be bailed for while you are there - open liquor container $62 and the subsequent disorderly behaviour is $112 - giving a grand of $ 174 for the night out !!!!! Great photos and blog (apology if I have doubled up on the comment but can't see if it appeared) All the best for the next days, by the way is that tomato sauce I see on my chin !!!
ReplyDeleteHi Brian Yule, Policeman, of Riverstone Terraces, going by the name lick and rub napkin boy.
ReplyDeleteSince you posted twice, does that mean I will have to pay twice the fines for Gerrys behaviour at Sturgis?
